Improve the site you have, or redesign it?

Should I redesign my business website or improve it?

Improve first if the domain, pages and story still work. Redesign or rebuild only if the site is unsafe, you cannot edit it, or it is so dated a refresh will not help. Most UK and US companies I see can keep what they have and make it work again.

“Redesign” sounds like progress. It is also how people throw away URLs that already rank. I would rather keep your domain, fix speed and mobile, and put the enquiry path where humans can find it. That is the Hexify default.

When is a full rebuild the right call?

When nobody can log in, the stack is abandoned, security is a real risk, or every change takes a week and still breaks. Then we plan a rebuild that maps old URLs so you do not fall off Google overnight.

I say this plainly on a review call. If a rebuild is not needed, I will not sell you one. If it is needed, you get a scope, not a surprise halfway through a “refresh.”

A lot of UK and US firms already rank for their own name. That is an asset. Keep it. Improvement means better pages on the same domain. Redesign, when we do it, still maps the old URLs.

Will I lose SEO if I change the website?

You can, if someone deletes pages and ignores redirects. You should not, if we keep the domain, map important URLs, and improve titles and content instead of inventing a new site for fun.

UK search and US search both reward useful pages that load. Fancy animation does not. A clearer contact path does.

How long does a website redesign take?

A first sprint is usually 2 to 6 weeks after we agree what “done” looks like. Then monthly maintenance so it does not fade. Larger product work is a different conversation.
